Tommy Lasorda speaks

Video I took from last night's NLCS Game 5 after the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers to advance to the World Series. Former Dodger skipper Tommy Lasorda took the mic and reminded fans of the old Brooklyn Dodgers saying, "wait til next year." After an emotionally charged series (not just on the field), a good number of Dodgers fans stayed to thank their team and their second-half MVP Manny Ramirez for a great 2008.

A good number? There were just as many Phillies fans as Dodger fans there at that point. Then again, a majority of the bandwagoners started leaving in the 7th.

Still don't see how this is relevant. The Dodgers are going to be reverting back to their usual terrible selves next season anyway without Manny (who I would never give a big contract to, by the way. As soon as he gets that money the fake injuries and general laziness will inevitably make a repeat appearance.)

@Josh from your post on the700level.com

Oh settle down the "E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!" thing is stupid but it more is a show of who is a philadelphian than "Eagles > Phillies". Its not like they broke into the Eagles fight song when they Phillies clinched.

Plus do people in Dallas actually chant "How bout them Cowboys!" at games? Really? If they don't do normally, then why would they chant that at all, in any situation? The Eagles chant is done by everyone in the city and is a Philadelphian practice. So those who were getting shit thrown at them all night might want to show off the city they are from.

If you want to see what Philadelphia does for celebrations go here:

Notice no Eagles chants in the THOUSANDS of people there. (and better yet only a few arrests in the whole city and no deaths or riots! :) )

Also, if you look at the Phillies' statements the players' didn't mention once that the E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES! chant bothered them and none of the columnists brought it up. There is no singular Phillies chant, and Im sure anything made up on the spot would have been BRILLIANT.
